PRESS RELEASE - ICAC Inquiry into Registered Training Organisations

Being mindful of the proliferation of speculation and hearsay within the industry, the board of directors of ISE have determined it both necessary and timely to issue a statement in relation to the current ongoing ICAC inquiry into registered training organisations, in which two of our current board members have been summoned to give evidence.

After seeking legal advice, we have been instructed that as the public hearing and inquiry are still open and the Commissioner has not handed down his findings or recommendations the ISE is in no position to make any official or unofficial statements or comments regarding any matter relating to this inquiry.

At such time in the future when the Commissioner hands down his findings the ISE shall advise all members of the outcome and any necessary requirements as per his findings.

NSW Security Licence Validation – SIR Public Register of Licensees

Recent licence revocations by the Security Industry Registry (SIR) has highlighted the importance for both Master and Individual licensees to validate licences on the SIR Public Register of Licences to ensure that they are employing current licensed personnel and Individual licensees are employed by a current Master Licence holder.

Significant penalties apply under the Security Industry Act 1997  under Section 39 for Master licensees employing unlicensed persons and Section 29B for Individual licensees working for unlicensed companies.

The NSW Police are conducting ongoing licensing enforcement operations and ISE encourages all licensees to ensure compliance by regularly validating licences in the Public Register of Licences on the Security Industry Registry website.    SIR Public Register of Licences
